Ingredo: reading labels against your own body, with sources
A barcode scan should tell you whether a product works for you, not for an average shopper. And it should show where that verdict came from.
Anyone with coeliac disease, a nut allergy or a fragrance allergy knows the routine: turn the product over, find the ingredient list, and read it in a small font, often in more than one language. Generic health scores don’t help much. A product can be “healthy” and still be exactly what you can’t eat.
Ingredo starts from the person, not the product. You set up a profile, scan a barcode, and get a verdict for you: avoid, check with caution, or good match. It works for food and for cosmetics.
Profiles, not averages
Profiles cover coeliac disease, IBS and low-FODMAP, lactose intolerance, vegan diets, nut allergy, all 14 major food allergens, sensitive skin, fragrance allergy and acne-prone skin. Each ingredient is marked safe, caution or avoid against that profile, so you can see which one triggered the verdict rather than just a colour.
Sourced, not guessed
The rule we held ourselves to: every verdict cites the regulation or study behind it. An app that tells you to avoid something without saying why just gives you something else to double-check. With a citation you can check it yourself or take it to your doctor.
The score is broken down the same way. You can see how much comes from ingredients, processing, additives and organic status, with a Nutri-Score adjustment applied on top. Nothing is hidden in one opaque number.
Built on open data
Product data comes from Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts, under the ODbL. We layer EU-regulated allergen data on top, including the full Annex III fragrance allergen list for cosmetics. Ingredo supports Greek and English from day one and includes local products, because the shelf in a Greek supermarket isn’t the shelf in a US one.
When a product doesn’t fit your profile, Ingredo suggests alternatives that do, so a scan doesn’t leave you with nothing to buy.
